Nick Gilder (born December 21, 1951 in London, England) first come to prominence when frontman for the Canadian glam rock band Sweeney Todd. It experienced the first hit, "Roxy Roller", which held around to the top spot in the American music stock and index charts for Three weeks in 1975. It went in to win the Juno Award for bestselling single a ensuing season.
Feeling it got international scope, Gilder & fellow b& member, guitar player & songwriting partner, James McCulloch left a band and signed an American record deal.
It wasn't until his 2nd solo album, which spawned a megahit "Hot Child in the City", that Gilder eventually experienced chart profits in the United States. That song went to No.1 both in Canada and the US. It besides earned him 2 further Juno Awards: Right Selling Only & for Virtually all Promising Male Vocalist of the Season around Canada also as a People's Choice Award in the US.
Gilder has too been successful as a ballad maker for creative person like Patty Smyth, Bette Midler, Joe Cocker and Pat Benatar. Within 1984, a band Scandal had a American first hit by using "The Warrior," which was written by Gilder & Holly Knight, & it earned him the BMI Airplay Award.
Gilder's songs stand been utilized inside many motion-picture show like Youngblood using Rob Lowe and The Spook by using Charlie Sheen, and inside TV series prefer Sex and the City and ''That '70s Show.
